We buy and sell quality used books of all genres and offer unique hand-bound notebooks made in-store.
Buying
We buy books from 12 to about 3:30 pm every day except Sundays. We will NOT be buying books on Saturday, April 27th, which is Independent Bookstore Day.
We buy the majority of our books before 3 PM, so it’s best to come early. Please call ahead during business hours and speak with someone (leaving a voicemail is not sufficient) to check our availability on the day you want to come in: 206-632-3759

-It will usually take us 10 - 30 minutes to look at your books.
-You will need to wait while we look, no drop offs allowed!
-We pay 20-25% of our projected retail price. (And 50% more if you choose to take store credit!)
-Most often we're excited to buy popular paperback fiction & non-fiction.
-We buy all genres but what we need varies unpredictably. Bring them by and find out!
-We are willing to make house calls for extensive libraries in the Seattle area.
-We accept donations!

One last useful tip: we adore quality.
When deciding which books to buy, we look for:
-No writing or highlighting
-No tears or creases
-No water damage or mildew
-No cracked or damaged spines
Selling
We pride ourselves on scouring the Northwest for the best titles from every genre to fill our shelves.
Contemporary and classic literature, children's books, poetry, travel, memoirs, self-help, cooking, art history, world history, astrology, science and mathematics, graphic novels, zines and more ... we stock it all!
As you browse our shelves, you'll notice that most of our books are marked at close to half the original price. Specialty books, including first editions, autographed copies, out of print books, and other collectibles will be priced fairly to reflect their value.
We also sell new books as of May 2023. Ask us about ordering a new copy of the specific title you're looking for.
Seasonal items, limited run artwork, and custom Ophelia's merchandise, including t-shirts and bags, are available in-store as well!
